Mix and don’t match

As I was out to dinner this week at The Sunny Spot in Venice, I noticed that they were picking up on a big trend that’s been popping up lately. Mismatched chairs around a dining table. Seeing that I have an unhealthy obsession with chairs of all sorts, I am super excited to see this happening. It gives my chair hoarding some context. Why settle for one style when you can have 4?  6?  8??!

Here is my rundown on the mixing chair trend, and some suggestions on getting it right :)

Delightfully dilapidated can be quite charming. Casual with a vintage vibe.

In a minimal modern setting, it gives your room an edge.  Your table’s saying “I’m so cool, my chairs don’t even have to match!”

Sometimes,  a bold wallpaper ties everything together.

Or wallpaper and a rug

Mixing the style but sticking to one color also keeps it cohesive.

Alternately, you can stick to one style, in multiple colors.

Or, have one standout. One of these is not like the other :)

Or just break all the rules! This is all about mismatching, isn’t it?? :)
